Real, practical and actionable information for the "action-taker" type of person looking to build something real

As co-founder of Digital Experts Academy (DEA), I've personally know Greg and Fiona for several years now and I have to say: Not only are they wonderful, down-to-earth, and caring humans, they're incredibly inspiring to be around. Their passion is travel and it's incredible to see how in just a few short years they've been able to build a business around their lifestyle vs a lifestyle around their business.
After receiving an autographed copy of the book as a gift back in 2012, I finally took the time to sit down and read it. A student, who had just enrolled in Digital Experts Academy told me how he had taken an affiliate marketing course at the University of San Francisco and was given a copy of the book from his professor. (After reading the book, he looked up Greg and Fiona online and realized that they were also part-time digital business coaches with Digital Experts.)
What I found incredibly rare and inspiring is how raw and real Greg and Fiona are. It's also FULL of practical, actionable, and useful information on the whole spectrum of what it truly takes to build an online business and create a laptop lifestyle. From some of the most basic/tactical marketing stuff to the more advanced entrepreneurial mindset stuff that people struggle with every day (even if they don't realize it). Knowing "what it takes" to transition to complete self-reliance and financial independence is one thing... hearing it from someone who's been there and done it, made the mistakes, overcome the hurdles, and is willing to honestly share this with the read is another.
I can honestly say that there is enough content in the first 2-3 chapters alone to make this a must-read. Another thing that I really appreciated about it is that Greg and Fiona are openly sharing their story and personal experience without coming across as out-of-reach experts or gurus. In my opinion, there are far to many teachers out there pumping out "how-to" books and not nearly enough books like this that tell you what you need to know vs what you want to read.
Again, very impressed and highly recommended. In fact, I would even go as far as to say that if you can afford to hire them to personally coach you, go for it. Mentoring with real-world people like this (who are walking the walk) is priceless.

A good guideline for novice Entrepreneurs

I purchased this book a couple of days ago via Amazon and read it today. I'd say this book is written for a 'complete novice'. It has good tips on finding a niche, using free software and marketing via sites such as YouTube. Their advice provides a guideline, but I would have preferred more in-depth information. I am disappointed to see there are no real life examples of others who have succeeded at their niches. The only example that is shown is Greg and Fiona's information/marketing website.
What is off putting about this book is that it's heavy on 'self-help' There's a whole chapter on it and it goes into great depth. This is good if you need some motivation to start, but is it necessary to have a huge chapter devoted to it? I must admit I rolled my eyes when they mentioned 'The Secret'.
The other thing that I disliked is that all their chapters contain links going back to their website as well as pictures of the couple living their life style. This reminds me of the way Amway likes to sell their business. I can't help but think that this is a marketing ploy to sell their marketing classes/products further.
Now that I have read the book, I have taken the time to read the Amazon reviews. It does seem very weird that all the reviewers have given glowing reviews, but have never reviewed other books. This is very disappointing and I hope Amazon changes it's policy on reviewers.
Summing up it's big on motivation and includes some good advice for a complete novice to get started. I'd leave this one alone though if you've already read other books on on-line start-ups.

Refreshingly different!

I am reading this book for the third time! It's not one of your typical "make money" types of books full of hyped up claims and bogus stories of riches flying out of your computer if you follow a few simple strategies.
Rather, the beauty of this book is that it is down to earth, honest, and presents internet marketing as a real business full of pitfalls, challenges, and the like but one that is lucrative if you heed their example.
Greg and Fiona are two entrepreneurs who present themselves very much as "normal" people who decided to give internet marketing a try and spent their first year or two spinning their wheels, buying bogus products and trying this that simply didn't work despite the claims of the "gurus" selling them. They eventually figured out that this is a business just like any other and needs to be approached as such. Most books don't tell you this which is why I like their story.
What I must like about this book is that they are REAL people who admit they made huge mistakes from the start, got sucked in to "get rich quick schemes" (and at least warn you of the temptations along the way), had to navigate through the minefields of challenges no one thinks about at the start (e.g. do YOU really have the discipline to be your own boss and get work done when no one is watching? I mean really, who thinks about that when they get started with their own business?)
This one is not for experienced marketers, however, they probably wouldn't get much from it. However, it is extremely telling for anyone interested in either Internet Marketing or for those who have tried it and got no where - they prove it can be done but will take time and effort.
My advice, if you're new to this or are thinking about internet marketing as a way to build either passive income or start a full time business, get it, read it, then read it again.
