Great info on testing/supplements

The tests that Mr. Smith refers to in his book are so useful. I've taken them myself through my healthcare provider. The Health Questionaire helped me to pinpoint where my problems were but the Metametrix UOA testing helped me to find any deficiencies in my supplement regimen. I love that I can find out exactly what my body needs to supplement wisely. The UOA tests found that I was deficient in Vitamin B so I started supplementing with a B-complex. That's really helped lift my energy levels. Also, I have taken UltraInflamX and T-12/T-170 to help me deal with my inflammation and calm my stress down. Carrying too much stress :( The UltraInflamX works great for me even got my mom on the UltraInflamX. We both love the stuff! The T-12/T-170 is great at calming me without making me drowsy which is great since I can use it morning and night. :) All in all I totally recommend these tests and the supplements.

Best resource for managing endocrine dysfunction

I heartily recommend this book to anyone trying to learn how to manage and cope with chronic endocrine dysfunctions such as hypopituitarism, hypogonadism, hypothyroidism, growth-hormone deficiency, and hypocortisolism (adrenal insufficiency). I know from first-hand experience how difficult it is to find an authoritative source on the subject. Since developing endocrine dysfunction following a brain tumor in 2008, I have searched far and wide to no avail for a resource that would help me to recover from my affliction. The problem with most resources on endocrine dysfunction is that they are either based on conventional medical treatments or on untested homeopathic remedies. What's amazing about this book is how the author reviews an extensive body of cutting-edge scientific evidence and integrates this evidence to develop a systematic program for treating chronic conditions, such as adrenal insufficiency and chronic fatigue syndrome. In the process, the author covers a wide range of areas, from supplements to medical testing to exercise. Taking a holistic approach, he teaches the reader how to test for a variety of factors that have been found to be correlated with chronic endocrine dysfunction. He even combines insights from medicine and physiology to suggest the optimal rehab program for patients who have been incapacitated by these chronic conditions. For me, this is the only rehab program that ever worked, after years of trying with a number of experts. In short, this book is an amazing resource for anyone struggling with these conditions.

About the Author
Pierre Y. Julien is Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Colorado State University. He has co-authored more than 400 scientific publications including two textbooks, 20 lecture manuals and book chapters, 145 refereed journal articles, 130 professional presentations, 150 conference papers and 100 technical reports. As a professional engineer, he has completed projects and assignments for at least 50 different agencies and consulting firms world-wide. He is a member of 12 professional societies and served as Editor of the ASCE Journal of Hydraulic Engineering. He has delivered numerous keynote addresses at international conferences. In 2004, he received the H. A. Einstein Award for his outstanding contributions to sedimentation and river mechanics. He is also the author of the textbook River Mechanics (Cambridge, 2002).

About the Author
K. Michael Hays, Adjunct Curator of Architecture at the Whitney Museum of American Art, is a leading architectural theorist and historian. He is currently Professor of Architectural Theory at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He is founder and editor of Assemblage, the critical journal of architecture and design culture published by MIT Press, and the author of several books on contemporary architects and architecture.

The Aberrant Architecture of Diller + Scofidio

The companion book to an exhibition at the Whitney, which runs through June 1, is a work of art in itself. The lenticular plastic cover shimmers enigmatically; folded pages with elliptical cuts allow you to peer inside, propelling you through the book in search of what can be imperfectly glimpsed. It's an appropriate, teasing metaphor for this collection of installations, exhibits, and as yet unrealized projects, plus Blur from the Swiss Expo 02. Elizabeth Diller and Ricardo Scofidio ponder our obsession with display and call everything into question. (Michael Webb is the book reviewer for LA Architect magazine.)
